Dr Davina McCoy

About Me

Dr. Davina McCoy (née Powell) is a Caymanian-born physician who earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at the University of The West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, Jamaica in 2015.

She completed her Internship at the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (CIHSA) in 2016. This was followed by Senior House Officer (SHO) positions held at the Pathology Department of the University Hospital of the West Indies, and the Internal Medicine and Haematology Oncology Departments at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) in Jamaica.

She then returned home in 2017 and worked for almost seven years as a Medical Registrar within CIHSA's Women's Health Department. Throughout that period, Dr. McCoy acquired valuable experience and skills related to the field of women's health, including well woman care, obstetrics and gynaecological care, postnatal care, menopausal care and family planning services. She has also been involved in several women's health conferences hosted by CIHSA and has had the privilege of supervising and mentoring other junior staff.

Dr. McCoy recently joined the General Practice Clinic at CIHSA as a Medical Doctor in April 2024. This transition to the primary care sector serves to broaden her medical expertise whilst pursuing her postgraduate Doctor of Medicine training in Family Medicine through UWI. This has also facilitated the expansion of services to the wider community and has allowed for a more integrated approach to patient care, ensuring that individuals receive comprehensive support for their health care needs.

Dr. McCoy strives for health promotion, patient empowerment, and effective communication. She is extremely passionate about holistic patient care and effective doctor-patient relationships. Her hobbies include dancing and baking during her spare time, as well as spending time with her husband and three children.
