Dr. Brown studied medicine at the University of the West Indies obtaining a bachelors in medical sciences in 2007 followed by an MBBS degree in 2009. He continued to obtain a Doctor of Medicine Degree (DM) in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in 2014. From 2016 through 2018 he worked in Toronto Ontario obtaining three clinical fellowships: an Advanced Clinical Practice fellowship in Anesthesia, a Hepatobiliary and Transplant Anesthesia fellowship and a fellowship in Neuro and Trauma Anesthesia and Critical Care, all from the University of Toronto.
Returning home in mid 2018 to practice in the department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Cayman Islands Hospital, his primary responsibilities have been to provide critical care services and emergency and elective anesthesia services at the Cayman Islands Hospital.
He has assumed numerous additional roles within the hospital; Chairman of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee (2019-2021), member of the CIHSA clinical review committee, member of the CIHSA Covid Task Force. He is also engaged in several staff education and quality improvement initiatives within the organization.
His interests include in addition to the clinical areas outlined above; critical thinking, strategic planning and leadership. He has a passion for holistic wellness and the provision of optimal and carefully contextualized healthcare.
His professional goals are to continuously improve the quality and level of health care provided at this institution and to seek ways to improve the national standard of healthcare.
