The Accident and Emergency Unit provides 24-hour coverage for persons who need urgent medical care. It is always staffed with specially trained physicians and registered nurses. Other specialists such as surgeons, gynaecologist, paediatricians, and radiologists are available “on call” after normal working hours if needed.
The unit has nine beds for observations; three allow for immediate attention and intensive cardiac care to persons presenting with chest pains. Each of these beds is equipped with specialised cardiac equipment and supplies.
The unit also encompasses a room for paediatric patients, a room for infectious cases, a trauma room, a room for carrying out minor procedures and a quiet room for persons suffering emotional/mental trauma.
