Registered Nurse (School Health)
The Registered Nurse School Health provides nursing care and promotes health and safety practices in the assigned school settings, allowing each student the opportunity to build capacity for self-care and learning.
Primary Responsibilities: The successful candidate provides illness and injury assessments and interventions to students, including the management of life-threatening emergencies. He/she prepares individual healthcare plans and manages students with chronic health conditions that impact learning, including making appropriate referrals and home visits. The successful candidate initiates and participates in health care education and health promotion activities for students, teachers, parents, and other relevant persons/groups. It also conducts screening programs appropriate to the age group and school health program schedule. The candidate immunizes students with parental consent and assists in controlling communicable diseases by reporting and treating immunize students as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and three (3) years of working experience in the related field. He/she must have a thorough knowledge of the principles of school health. The candidate must be registered in either of the following jurisdictions to be eligible to practice in the Cayman Islands: Jamaica, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and/or Australia. He/she must demonstrate the ability to work in a multicultural environment and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
