The Orthopaedic Surgeon provides quality patient centred orthopaedic service with two other Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons at the Cayman Islands Hospital in Grand Cayman and provide orthopaedic support for the Faith Hospital in Cayman Brac.

Primary Responsibilities: The successful candidate is responsible for providing 24-hour orthopaedic service in conjunction other HSA orthopaedic surgeons on a rotation basis. The candidate provides regular orthopaedic outpatient clinics, theatre sessions and ward rounds on an agreed basis. This includes providing backup services to the emergency medical staff, managing patients in critical care unit in closed collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines where the clinical need is required in the management of patients. From time to time the candidates provides clinics at the Faith Hospital on an agreed basis. The successful candidate participates in continuing professional development for medical staff, nurse education and training as well as strategic healthcare planning for the HSA’s orthopaedic services.

Qualification & Experience: The successful candidate must possess specialist qualifications (i.e. DM or FRCS) or equivalent from a recognised institution. Must have a minimum of seven (7) years post graduate specialist working experience in a healthcare setting. He/she should have training in hip and knee surgery. The candidate must also hold a valid license from either of the seven (7) jurisdictions; Jamaica, Canada, USA, United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia as specified in the Health Practice Law, Cayman Islands. The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team is essential. 

In addition to base salary, we provide full healthcare coverage at no cost to employees, pensions plan, paid holidays, 25 days annual leave, training leave, initial and annual licensing fees paid by the Authority, malpractice coverage on the hospital corporate plan. Relocation package includes air passage and freight for employee and dependent (s) to the Cayman Islands.
