PACS Administrator
The Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS) Administrator has wide knowledge of the PACS and Radiology Information Systems (RIS), sophisticated systems with clinical capabilities for image acquisition, data processing, transfer, archiving and display. Postholder is responsible for processing and archiving patient data which is critical in the operations of our fully digital department.
Primary Responsibilities: The postholder prepares unread studies for diagnostic review and subsequent dictation and storage into the RIS/PACS system by completing a series of various tasks including:
- Using Exam Manager, assure all “Unspecified” exams are resolved.
- Confirm that all “Unverified” exams are “Verified”
- Using the “Unread” worklists, assure that each examination request has associated images in the study folder (i.e.: 1 view chest has one image in the folder)
- Confirm images in the exam folder(s) meet your facilities local policy associated with image quality parameters (quality control (QC) activity – this may be managed by another staff member)
- Monitor Unverified Exams worklist to ensure certain exams are verified in a timely manner.
- Monitor Unread Exams worklist to ensure exams are being dictate within an appropriate timeframe.
- Serve as point of contact for back-up image quality issues associated with the PACS
- Define Default Display Protocols
Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business, medical or computer related field, with a minimum of three (3) years post-graduate experience OR more mature entrants should possess eight (8) years of relevant experience and present evidence of an aptitude for analysis work. Must have prior certification and experience as a Radiology Technician. Prior in-dept experience with General Electric (GE) RIS and PACS Systems is required. Experience working in the configuration, implementation, or support of a Hospital Electronic Health Record (HER) application is preferred. The successful candidate should possess excellent planning, organizational, communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision while keeping tight deadlines.
