The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) have extended the limited hours on Tuesday 5 November 2024 for the following services in preparation for Tropical Storm Rafael.
- Smith Road Pharmacy & Main Hospital Pharmacy – open until 3pm
- Urgent Care Clinic – open until 2pm
- Phlebotomy – Main Hospital only – open until 3pm
All other clinics remain closed; including all outpatient services, district health centres, therapy services, radiology, medical records, dental and eye clinics on Tuesday 5th November 2024. Elective surgeries and endoscopy procedures have been cancelled today, but may resume tomorrow Wednesday 6 November, pending further weather forecasts.
All patients (including dressing clinic) have been contacted directly to reschedule appointments.
A&E will still operate 24 hours, however, persons are reminded to stay home unless it is a true medical emergency .
During tropical force winds, 911 emergency calls are responded to on an individual basis depending on risk assessment. Treatment should be sought for medical emergencies only. EMS vehicles do not operate in tropical force winds, which are deemed unsafe for you and the EMS responders.
As a reminder to the public, Cayman Islands Health Services Authority facilities, including district health centres, are not general hurricane shelters for the public. If you need shelter, please go to a district hurricane shelter.
