With the addition of the new afternoon appointments, the Physician’s Clinic on Fridays will now operate from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

By increasing the frequency of medical services, the HSA is ensuring that residents across eastern districts receive timely and effective medical care. This move is expected to improve overall health outcomes, reduce the burden on emergency services, and foster a healthier, more productive population.

“At the HSA, we continue to ensure that the population remains healthy and safe by providing care in multiple convenient settings. Our vision is to strategically utilise resources to facilitate care for members of the community. By accessing care closer to home it benefits the patients and lessens the time and cost needed to remain healthy,” said Dr. Samuel Williams-Rodriguez, HSA’s Director of Primary Healthcare Services.

Amid a growing population and changing demography, the HSA has been focused on improving services to the eastern districts. Statistics from the 2021 Population Census showed that Bodden Town recorded the most robust population growth rate across most age groups compared to other districts, indicative of the need for greater access to routine health care.

“To guarantee access to healthcare for all, we must adapt to the many changes taking place. It goes beyond just saying but demonstrating that we are committed to executing the mandate. To achieve this, we are also looking to make similar incremental adjustments across other clinics in the eastern districts within the year,” noted Head of the General Practice Clinic Dr. Eryka Simmons.

This initiative follows the February opening of a temporary EMS station in Bodden Town to reduce emergency response times in eastern districts.
